It has recently become apparent that due to the wet period that has been plaguing our country recently, some companies have been unable to submit material for their national applications.

The Board for Plant Varieties finds this annoying and understands the impact of this.

Prolongation 2026

This year prolongation of registration can be applied for varieties of vegetable and agricultural species which have been registered in 2018. This also applies to all vegetable varieties which have been registered in 1993 until 2003.

Harmonization of Technical Questionnaires (TQs)

The Board for plant varieties has been working with CPVO for some time on the harmonization of Technical Questionnaires (TQs). The objective is to make as many CPVO and the Board for plant varieties TQs as possible identical on a one-to-one basis. This harmonisation will make it easier for applicants to submit either a national application or a CPVO application, as the information can simply be copied from one application to the other. Recently, a number of additional TQs have been harmonized.
